Mean Green Women Win Season Opener

The Mean Green beat Stephen F. Austin for the first time in program history, halting the Ladyjacks winning streak of 25 games. The Mean Green is now 19-11 all-time in season openers.
Williams led all scorers with 18 points, including 10 tallies from the free throw line. Bobo recorded her third career double-double with 15 points and a team-high 10 rebounds. She also dished out a team-high six assists.
The Mean Green converted 31 of 43 free throws in the game, including 20 in the second half. NT’s final 13 points were all made from the charity strip.
SFA held the lead briefly at the start of the second half but was unable to regain the advantage down the stretch. The Ladyjacks came within two points of the Mean Green, 67-65, with 24 seconds left in the game after a three-pointer by Nikki Carr but were unable to make another basket. Williams sank two free throws and Didi Wali made two more to seal the victory.
