Men's Basketball Travels To Arizona State Tonight

Tempe, Ariz. (11/30/05) - The Mean Green men's basketball team tries to snap a four-game skid in road games that dates back to last season when North Texas faces Arizona State tonight at 8 pm.North Texas fell to UNC Wilmington, ranked No. 19 in the latest CollegeInsider. com Mid-Major Top 25 poll, last Tuesday in its first road game of the season. Every North Texas game can be heard live on KWRD (100.7 FM) in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.
Arizona State is perfect so far this season with a 3-0 record and victories over Southern Utah, Alcorn State and UC Santa Barbara. All three victories came at Wells Fargo arena as the Sun Devils start the season with six consecutive home outings. Arizona State returns two starters and six letterwinners from last year’s team that posted an 18-14 record and advanced to the NIT Tournament. Arizona State is No. 74 in the Sagarin ratings.
Wednesday’s game will be just the third meeting ever between North Texas and Arizona State as the two teams split the first two games. The Sun Devils won the first meeting 75-66 in Tempe during the 1972-73 season, while North Texas won the last meeting 89-86 in Denton during the 1975-76 campaign.
North Texas has played just three teams that are currently in the Pac-10, playing both the Arizona and Arizona State twice and UCLA once. NT is 3-2 against those teams, defeating the Wildcats twice and Sun Devils once.
