Sun Belt Basketball Tournament Field Set

DENTON (3/1/05) - The field has been set for the Sun Belt Conference Basketball Tournament, which is being hosted by North Texas beginning this Friday, March 4. Eleven schools and 22 teams will converge on Denton to compete for the men's and women's conference championships and an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
The North Texas men's team will get the action started on Friday night with a matchup against fourth-seed Arkansas State. Tipoff is set for 5:30 pm in the Super Pit. The winner of that game will face Denver, the first seed in the West Division, on Saturday night at 8 pm. Last year's champion Louisiana-Lafayette is the second seed in the West Division and will play the winner of the Middle Tennessee/New Mexico State game on Sunday night at 9 pm.
The Mean Green women received the No. 2 seed in the West Division and have a first-round bye. NT will face the winner of Middle Tennessee/New Orleans on Sunday afternoon at 1:30 pm. Middle Tennessee won the women's championship last year.
