NORTH TEXAS vs.
January 12, 2006
Kendrick Davis (NT, G)
“It was a weird game tonight. I couldn’t figure it out. I felt like we didn’t play our best, but we ended up scoring 90 points. We came out strong and that always helps you. We executed well on offense. We got a lot of points off transition.”
Jeffrey Simpson (NT, C)
“Tying the blocking record means a lot to me. I guess it shows that all the hard work pays off.”
Isaac Hines (NT, G)
“I thought we played together tonight. We got a lot of fast breaks and open shot opportunities. The quick start we got really helped us tonight.”
Johnny Jones (head coach)
“I thought we did an excellent job tonight in terms of having a balanced scoring attack. We had four guys score in double figures. Offensively we did a good job. For the most part we did a good job defensively also. We did not take care of the ball as well as I would have liked. We had 20 turnovers and we need cut down on that number.”
“We wanted to come out tonight and get off to a fast start. In the last few outings we have started slow and then had to fight to get back into the game. We stressed in practice the importance of starting fast. I thought our guys came out and did just that tonight.”
On Lionel Brown in the starting lineup
“LB (Lionel) is a plus for us. He is very quick and shoots the ball very well. I think with him and Hines (Isaac) on the floor at the same time it creates havoc for opposing defenses. He and Hines starting together is something that we may use going forward. I think our depth gives us great flexibility in who we start.”
On Isaac Hines
“Isaac did a good job of knocking down open shots tonight. He is our floor general. He does not shoot the ball a great deal, but is very accurate. Tonight he was perfect from the foul line and knocked down three of four shots from behind the arc. He came into the game shooting over 44% from three point territory.”
