Volleyball Splits Pair In Mean Green Classic

DENTON (9/8/06) The North Texas volleyball team split a pair of games on the opening day of the 16th Mean Green Classic, sweeping Texas Southern in the morning match and then falling to Oklahoma in three straight games.
North Texas (5-6) never trailed against
Catherine Coffey dominated the net with 10 kills and eight blocks, including five solo blocks.
In the second match it was the team from the Big 12 that had the edge at the net finishing with seven team blocks compared to two for the Mean Green. Brittney Gregory, Tara Hooser and Coffey each finished with eight kills; however, Eliane Santos and Joanna Schmitt combined for 30 Sooner kills while Rachel Jackson was credited with 45 assists.
