Mean Green Snaps Five-Game Losing Streak Against Owls

The Mean Green (5-12, 2-5) takes a 1-0 lead in the series against Florida Atlantic (4-17, 0-9), who is in its first year as a member of the Sun Belt Conference.
After scoring four points in the first half, Sanetra Jackson warmed up in the second stanza. She scoring five of NT’s first seven points at the start of the second half to extend the Mean Green’s lead to 13, 47-34. The sophomore finished the game with 16 points.
The Mean Green maintained its lead throughout the second half, but the Owls cut the lead to three, 64-61, with 3:01 left in the game. The Mean Green hit 13 free throws in the remaining minutes to seal the win.
The Owls cut the Mean Green lead to one, 34-33, with a 14-1 run at the end of the first half. Talicia Sanders hit two jumpers in the last two minutes of the game to keep the Mean Green ahead by seven at the half.
The game featured a combined 53 turnovers between the two teams.
Sanders and Quattrocchi joined Amber and Sanetra Jackson in double figures with 10 points each.
North Texas returns to action on Wednesday, Jan. 24 when it hosts Middle Tennessee at 7 pm.
