Volleyball Dominates For Upset Sweep Over FIU

DENTON, Texas (10/05/07) - The North Texas volleyball team pulled off easily the biggest upset in the Sun Belt this season, handily sweeping Florida International, 30-26, 30-26, 30-25.
The Mean Green (6-13, 2-3 SBC West) overpowered the Golden Panthers (11-3, 6-1 SBC East) from the start, posting a through-the-roof attack percentage of .402 the seventh-best mark in school history.

Only two other Sun Belt squads had managed to win a single game in six matches against the eastern division leaders, and the Golden Panthers only previous losses came to perennial powers Notre Dame and No. 10 California.
Katy Prokof was the
Brooke Engel got the FIU monkey off of her back, landing her first-ever service aces against the Golden Panthers. The senior, who leads the nation in scoring aces for the second straight year, scored a pair of aces tonight on top of 10 kills, and has now scored an ace against every Sun Belt Conference team in her career.

Maddox also dished out 47 assists, a high this season for a three-game match.
