Williams Pulls Down 19 Rebounds In Basketball Win

DENTON (11/17/07) Quincy Williams put together his ninth career double-double to lead the North Texas men’s basketball team to a 78-69 victory against Indiana State on Saturday afternoon at the Super Pit.
The Mean Green is 3-0 for the first time since the 1994-95 season.
Williams was one of three Mean Green players in double figures with 14 points. He also pulled down 19 rebounds, a career high and the most in the Sun Belt Conference this season. Sixteen of those rebounds were defensive boards. His previous best was 13, which he has recorded three times in his career. The 19 rebounds are the most by a Mean Green player since March 7, 2004 when Shawson Johnson grabbed 21 versus
Collin Dennis led all scorers with 22 points, setting a career high. He went 11-for-13 from the free throw line and hit three three-pointers. Freshman Josh White had his third game in double figures with 11 points.

The Mean Green’s defense this season has kept all three opponents under 40 percent shooting from the field. The Sycamores were 36.4 percent from the field. North Texas also held the edge in rebounds, 42-37.
North Texas returns to action on Wednesday, Nov. 21 when it faces Texas-Arlington on the road at 7 pm.
