Game Notes
The difference in the game came was at the free throw line. NT went to the line only four times, but the Mavericks were 23-for-30 from the charity stripe, including 19-for-22 in the second half.
What To Watch For
North Texas will be looking for a measure of revenge against the Mavericks, which knocked off the Mean Green 83-81 on a buzzer-beating shot last year. Five players in double-figures paced UTA, led by big man Jermaine Griffin who hit the game-winning shot at the horn. UTA returns all five starters from that team.
North Texas head coach Johnny Jones reached a .500 career win percentage with the victory over
Forward Quincy Williams hauled in 19 rebounds against the Sycamores, which ties for the 13th most in school history. The most rebounds by a player in the Sun Belt Conference this season, Williams’ tally is the best by an NT player since Shawnson Johnson’s 21 versus UNO in 2006.
