Engel Earns MGVC All-Tourney Honors In Volleyball Loss

DENTON, Texas (9/01/07) North Texas had Georgia State against the ropes but couldn’t deliver the knockout punch, falling to the Mean Green Volleyball Classic champions, 3-2 (30-27, 27-30, 30-27, 24-30, 5-15).
North Texas senior Brooke Engel was named to the MGVC All-Tournament team, as was
Engel racked up 13 service aces in the tournament, capping the weekend with three against
NT pieced together its best match of the season against the Panthers, but fell just. Mean Green passing looked crisp, which was evidenced by Heather Maddox’s season-high 53 assists, and NT had two players with double-digit digs.
The Mean Green came out of the gate on fire, and was able to hold off the Panthers for a 30-27 win in the first game.
After the Panther victory in game two,
Lusk put the match away for the Panthers in the extra frame, finishing the afternoon with 18 kills.
