Ladyjacks Survive Mean Green Volleyball Charge

Katy Prokof and the Mean Green (4-10) had the defending Southland Conference champions on the ropes in game three, but couldn’t finish SFA (9-5) off. Prokof led the charge, putting NT in front 20-14 before the Ladyjacks took hold.
The senior landed two late kills to give her team life with the score tied at 29-29, but SFA’s strong play in the middle managed to shut the door.
“We were right there whole match, but we just couldn’t put them away,” said head coach Cassie Headrick. “We competed well against one of the better teams in the country tonight, and look forward to Sun Belt Conference play this weekend.”

Kelsey Robins saw the first action of her career, sprawling out for a crutial dig in game three that kept the North Texas momentum going during a four-point swing. The freshman ended with a trio of digs on the night.
Robins wasn’t the only player with a great defensive performance. Jessica Hulsebosch piled up her fourth straight match with at least 20 digs all coming in only three games.
SFA struggled all night with the serve of Brooke Engel. The senior, who ranks among the nation’s top five in service aces, drove home four aces tonight against the Ladyjacks.
