North Texas was out-rebounded for just the third time this year, but for the second game in a row. MTSU edged the Mean Green 28-27 on the boards.

North Texas is now 0-4 in Murfreesboro, Tenn., and 4-5 overall against Middle Tennessee.

North Texas has now lost three straight games for the first time since February of 2006. The Mean Green didn’t lose more than two in a row in last year’s title run. NT lost five straight in February of 2006.

The Blue Raiders were 1-11 from deep before Kevin Kansaskie came alive, hitting four 3-pointers, including nine consecutive MTSU points, to give Middle Tennessee a late three-point lead it would never relinquish. Kanaskie’s 3-pointers triggered a 20-7 run Middle Tennessee run to finish the game.

Josh White bounced back from last weekend’s injury with a team-high 16 points. He led three Mean Green players in double figures, including Dez Willingham’s 14 points. Willingham has now reached double figures for a third straight game.

Justin Howerton earned his first start of the season, and the fourth of his career.

North Texas’ 27 rebounds versus the Blue Raiders are a season low.
