- The Mean Green hit 13 three-pointers against Troy, which ties for the sixth most ever by a North Texas team. The last time a North Texas squad hit more than that was also against Troy 15 in 2006.
- North Texas nailed seven first half 3-pointers, edging Troy by one in a shootout from downtown. It was the most three pointers in the opening half by the Mean Green since it hit eight against Charlotte in November of 2006.
- Josh White returned to form against Troy with 18 points, 11 of which came in the first half. The freshman had only four points against Texas A&M-International in his last outing, breaking a streak of nine straight games in double figures to open his career.
- Keith Wooden notched his second double-double of the season and the third of his career. The senior finished with 12 points and 12 rebounds.
- North Texas was out-rebounded for the first time this season, 54-43 by the Trojans. Troy came into the game with a conference low -12.7 rebounding margin, but clipped the Mean Green which ranked second in the Sun Belt with a +7.3 entering the game.
- Collin Dennis hit a 3-pointer with just over three seconds remaining to send the game into overtime. Dennis was 1-of-5 from beyond the arc before that shot.
- The game is North Texas’ first overtime game of the season. The Mean Green was 2-2 in overtime affairs last year.
- For only the third time in the last 20 years, North Texas has started conference play with an 0-2 mark. The Mean Green last began conference play in an 0-2 hole in 1998-99, falling to UC-Irvine and Cal State Fullerton in Big West Conference action.
