Mean Green Rally Comes Up Short At UALR

“We’ve got to get better defensively and we have to get tougher on that side of the ball,” coach Johnny Jones said. “We had an opportunity to put ourselves in first place tonight heading back home with two games but now we need some help to get back there”.
North Texas (14-9, 5-7) trailed for most of the game, falling behind early as UALR led the entire first half, taking a 40-31 lead into the break.
However the Mean Green opened the second half with a run of 8-3 in the first two minutes to cut the Trojan lead to 43-39.
UALR (15-8, 7-5) answered though with five straight points to retake the lead thanks to walk-on freshman Matt Mouzy, who ended the night with a game-high 17 points for the Trojans.
UALR extended its lead to 73-66 with four minutes to play and kept it at six points until the final minute of play.
Josh White nailed a 3-pointer with 58 seconds to play to cut the UALR lead to 80-77. Free throws pushed that lead to 81-77 for UALR but White was fouled with 19 seconds while shooting a 3-pointer and made all three to make it a one point game at 81-80.
John Fowler made two free throws with 15 seconds for UALR but Ben Bell made two free throws for
White raced the ball ahead but his shot was blocked out of bounds by Shane Edwards with 0.8 seconds left setting up the final look by McCoy.
