Mean Green Football Falls In Home Opener

DENTON (9/6/08) Quarterback David Johnson threw for 418 yards and six touchdowns to lead the Tulsa football team to a 56-26 win against North Texas on Saturday at Fouts Field in a front of a crowd of 22,785.

As a team,
Johnson completed 25-of-33 passing attempts for 418 yards. He spread the ball around, passing to nine different receivers. Six different receivers caught touchdown passes for the Golden Hurricane.
By the end of the first half, Charles Clay had caught two touchdowns passes and Damaris Johnson had run for a touchdown and caught a TD reception for
Jeremy Knott hit field goals at the end of the first half and the start of the third quarter. His 47-yard field goal to end the first half is the longest field goal by the Mean Green since Nick Bazaldua nailed a 50-yarder against LSU in 2005. Knott also added a 22-yard field goal and two extra points.
Casey Fitzgerald and Breece Johnson caught touchdown passes for the Mean Green in the fourth quarter. Johnson made his first career catch count, hauling in a six-yard touchdown grab.
