North Texas women's basketball forward Kendra Calvin is not eligible for the upcoming season after failing to meet NCAA eligibility requirements. Calvin transferred to North Texas this past summer.
"We are disappointed that we won't have Kendra but it is the responsibility for each of our student-athletes to fulfill their requirements for eligibility," said head coach Shanice Stephens. "This presents an opportunity for one of younger players to step up and fill the void."
Filling the void in Calvin's place will be a variety of different players from Chynna Burwell, Jasmine Godbolt, and Torrian Timms. Without Calvin the North Texas depth will be tested as she was going to figure into the rotation down low but this also presents the chance for Godbolt to win the starting job as a true freshman.
Godbolt has loads of talent and has been one of the better players down low for North Texas through two weeks of practice. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see her in the starting lineup at Stephen F. Austin but the Mean Green low post game will be by committee for the time being.
