Quick Hitters
- On Tuesday night, North Texas has a chance to improve to a 3-1 record for a fourth straight year, which would be a first in the program's 92-year history.
- Josh White ranks third in the Sun Belt Conference in scoring with 19.3 points per game, and is now just 21 points away from the top 30 scorers in school history. White has 823 career points and trails Carl Jones, who scored 844 points from 1973-76. White can become just the 18th player in NT history with 1,000 points.
- North Texas leads the all-time series with Jackson State 2-1, but a shootout is nearly guaranteed when these two take the court. The series dates back to 1990, when the Mean Green knocked off the Tigers 118-115, which is still tied for the fourth-most points ever scored by an NT squad.
- Last year versus Jackson State, Collin Dennis hit a pair of free throws in the final 33 seconds to lead NT to an 84-82 victory on Nov. 26, 2008. The Mean Green led by as many as 12 in the first half, but the Tigers rallied. Dominique Johnson's 17 points paced NT, which opened the year at 4-1 for a third straight season. George Odufuwa hauled in a game-high 12 boards, which gives him four straight games with double-figure rebounds. Dennis was electric in tallying a season-best 15 points. He connected on 5-of-9 from the field and 4-of-6 from the charity stripe.
- Jackson State was once again tabbed to win the SWAC in the annual preseason coaches poll. The Tigers garnered seven of the league's 13 first place votes in leading the preseason coaches poll for a second straight year. Forward Grant Maxey was named the Preseason Player of the Year.
