GAME NOTES
By winning 95-80, the Mean Green enjoyed its biggest offensive output of the season. The 95 points passed the previous high mark of 92 points scored Feb. 7 in a 92-74 win over another Louisiana school, Louisiana-Lafayette.
For the first time this season, North Texas landed six players in double-figures.
The win over the Warhawks was the fourth-straight win over ULM in the series.
The 15-point victory also marked the fourth consecutive victory by the Mean Green by a double-figure margin. The last time UNT won as many as four straight by double figures was in 1991-92 when the Mean Green rolled to six consecutive double-figure victories during what turned out to be an eight-game winning streak. Like the current streak, the four-game, double-figure win streak in 1991-92 was also in conference (Southland) games.
North Texas’s offensive explosion (31-of-66 FGs) was led by Adam McCoy’s 20-point performance off the bench. McCoy connected on 3-of-5 three-pointers and shot 5-6 at the FT line to register his second straight 20-point performance. He finished with 24 points at Middle Tennessee on Feb. 14.
The 20-point effort by McCoy was his eighth double-figure game of the season and his third in the last four games.
McCoy’s shooting from three-point range (3-of-5) marked the fifth time this season he’s connected on three or more three-point FGs.
Eric Tramiel connected on 5-of-9 field goals to finish with 17 points. It was his 16th game this season to score in double figures.
Tristan Thompson hit 3-of-5 shots from three-point range to finish with 13 points; it was his 16th game in double figures this season. Also, it was his fourth straight game to score in double figures.
Dominique Johnson also scored in double digits, contributing 12 points to the win. He also ended with six assists, one shy of his season high.
George Odufuwa and Collin Dennis both finished with 10 points rounding out the scoring in double figures. For Odufuwa, it was just fourth double-figure game of the season, but he’s now reached that output twice in the last four games. Dennis connected on 4-of-7 shots to register double figures for the 10th time this season.
Odufuwa also led the Mean Green with two steals the eighth game this season in which he’s had two or more steals.
The win pushed UNT’s win total to 16the third consecutive season the Mean Green have 16 or more games in a season.
