CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (2/23/09) It was top-10 starts to the spring season for North Texas women’s golfers Maggie Noel and Addison Long paced the Mean Green at the Stripes Islander Invitational. Noel and Long had identical scores of 154 to put North Texas in contention after the first day in fifth place.

The Mean Green shot a 312 and a 317 in the two rounds and is tied for 5^th place with a 629, 12 shots off the pace set by Lamar heading into the final round.

Noel had back-to-back rounds of 77 while Noel had the best round of the day for North Texas with a 3-over par 75 in the first round. The pair is closely followed by junior Jordan Rose who had two straight rounds of 78 and shot a 156.

Kelsie Gray and Janna Golden had a difficult opening day with a 165 for and a 169 for Golden

The final round begins tomorrow morning at 8:15 a.m.
