White Shoots Way Into Sun Belt All-Tournament Honors

DENTON, Texas (3/11/09) North Texas guard Josh White guided the Mean Green back to the Sun Belt Tournament semifinals with stellar shooting performances, and was named to the all-tournament team late Tuesday night.
The sophomore averaged 20.0 points per game on 52.8 percent shooting in North Texas’ three Sun Belt Tournament games, including 24 points against Florida Atlantic and a season-high 27 points versus Middle Tennessee in the quarterfinals.
White finished the year with a 90.6 free throw percentage, which ranks third in the nation and sets a new school record. He joins Calvin Watson and Ben Bell as the only North Texas players to be named to an All-Sun Belt Tournament team. Watson and Bell led the Mean Green to the 2007 Sun Belt title, where Watson was named the Tournament MVP.
On top of White’s selection, South Alabama’s DeAndre Coleman and Domonic Tilford, and Western Kentucky’s Orlando Mendez-Valdez and Sergio Kerusch were named to the SBC All-Tournament Team. WKU’s A.J. Slaughter was named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player
