Spencer Named NSCA All-American Athlete of the Year

DENTON, Texas (05/21/09) Former North Texas punter Truman Spencer was awarded the All-American Strength and Conditioning Athlete of the Year award by the National Strength and Conditioning Association.
Spencer was one of 206 collegiate athletes from 119 schools to earn the award.
The NSCA All-American Strength and Conditioning Athletes of the Year program recognizes collegiate athletes whose athletic accomplishments reflect their dedications to strength training and conditioning. These athletes are also recognized for their academic and personal accomplishments as well as their integrity as student-athletes.
In his final year at North Texas Spencer averaged a career-best 42.4 yards per punt as well as 16 punts over 50 yards. Spencer took first team All-Sun Belt Conference honors and the Abner Haynes Award for outstanding special teams player in 2008.
Spencer graduated in December 2008 with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology.
