DENTON, Texas -Todd Ford has resigned as North Texas' offensive coordinator to become the head coach at Cedar Ridge High School in Round Rock, Texas head coach Todd Dodge announced today. Ford has been the offensive coordinator for the Mean Green since Dodge took over the program in 2006.
"I am very excited for Todd and think this is a tremendous opportunity for him to continue to develop as a football coach," Dodge said. "I have no doubt that he will be successful in this business and want to thank him for his service to the North Texas football program over the past three years."
Under Ford, the Mean Green set several offensive records and eclipsed the 4,000-yard mark in total offense each year. It was the only time in school history that North Texas went over 4,000 yards in three consecutive seasons.
Cedar Ridge is the newest high school in the Round Rock Independent School District, not opening until this fall. The football program will play a junior varsity schedule in 2010 and 2011 and will compete with a varsity program for the first time in 2012.
