DENTON, Texas - After his flawless debut as the North Texas placekicker on Saturday, Zach Olen has been named the Sun Belt Conference Special Teams Player of the Week.
Olen was perfect on all five of his kicks against Arkansas State, making 4-0f-4 field goals and his only PAT attempt.
His four field goals was only the seventh time in Sun Belt Conference history that a kicker made at least four field goals in a game, and it tied for the third most field goals in a game by a North Texas kicker in school history.
Olen connected on attempts from 37 yards (three times) and 27 yards. Only five players in the nation have kicked more than Olen's four field goals in a game this season.
No North Texas kicker has been perfect in at least four attempts since North Texas returned to Div. I-A football in 1995.
Olen was also recognized by the College Football Performance Awards as Honorable Mention placekicker of the week.
