DENTON, Texas - I'd like to take a minute to brag on our North Texas volleyball team, and specifically setter Kayla Saey, which are both coming off a thrilling home opening weekend.
No other volleyball team in the Sun Belt Conference gets as much out of its setter as North Texas, which helps explain the Mean Green's position atop the league's West Division. Saey ranks 24th in the nation and tops in the SBC in assists per set at 11.08, and her skills quarterbacking the Mean Green offense has NT ranked 38th nationally in kills per set. NT is off to a 3-1 league start - the program's best since 2002 - and that is due in large part to Saey, who is soaring up the program's career charts.
The junior is sitting at exactly 2,000 career assists, which ranks fifth in school history. Saey's tally is just one of several in what has become a milestone month at North Texas.

Libero Sarah Willey also became the fourth player in NT history to reach 1,000 career digs against Louisiana- Lafayette last Friday, and outside hitter Amy Huddleston also crossed the 3,000 attack plateau - the fourth NT player to do so.
That trio of record setters has the Mean Green Volleyball Center rocking. NT leads the Sun Belt in attendance at over 500 fans per game, who were treated to the jazz stylings of "Back Side Pick" who played Friday night.
You will have two more chances to come see the Mean Green this weekend. NT takes on Arkansas State on Friday at 7 p.m. and UALR on Sunday at 1 p.m. As always, North Texas will host a free youth clinic on Sunday following its match.
