Mean Green Surges Into The Lead In Florida

FORT MYERS, Fla. - After the best round of the day, the North Texas women's golf team surged to the lead at the 33rd Pat Bradley Invitational after 36 holes. The Mean Green fired a 294 and climbed from third to first place to take a one-stroke lead heading into the final round of play tomorrow.
"This round was representative of a lot of hard work and paying close attention to the basics," said head coach Jeff Mitchell. "We are continuing to play high caliber golf under a variety of circumstances. We are looking forward to tomorrows challenge."
It was a very steady round of golf for North Texas as the Mean Green has four players in the top-15. Chandra Alexander leads the way as she remains in third place after a round of 1-over par. She had three birdies on the day and has a two-round score of even-par 144 after 36 holes.
Addison Long remains in a tie for 10th place after a second round of 2-over par 74. Long had two birdies in her round and is at 147 after the first two rounds.
Kelsey Kipp moved up to a tie for 12th place with a second round of 73. She had a wild round with nine pars, four birdies, and five bogeys but Kipp is at 148 after the first two days.
Freshman Chaslyn Chrismer continues her solid play with a second round of 2-over par 74 as she moved into the top-15. Chrismer's round that had two birdies on the day sent her into a tie for 14th place.
Fellow freshman Taylor Kilponen shot a 79 and has a two-round score of 160. North Texas is going after a school record third tournament title and its third win in four events this season.
The Mean Green has a score of 594 and a one-stroke lead over Daytona State, six over Western Michigan, and seven stroke lead over Maryland heading into the final round.
The final round of the tournament begins tomorrow morning.
