DISD Helping Hoops Tip Off 2011 Season

The Mean Green, which is coming off a school-record 24 wins and its second Sun Belt title and NCAA Tournament appearance of the last four years, will be hosting nearly 2,000 elementary and middle school students for the game. NT won its exhibition game against Arkansas-Monticello, 80-73, on Wednesday night.

Elementary students from Borman, Houston, Nelson, Pecan Creek, Rivera, and Ryan, as well as Harool Middle School will be in attendance - 20 school busses in all! Dr. Roger Rutherford, Assistant Superintendent for Denton ISD, will also be on hand for the festivities.
Students will tour the North Texas campus and hear from representatives from around the University prior to watching the Mean Green take on the Reddies of Henderson State.
NT suits up with three Preseason All-Sun Belt players - George Odufuwa, Josh White and Tristan Thompson - and is the unanimous favorite to repeat as the Sun Belt West champions.
North Texas will raise its championship banners prior to the Tuesday, Nov. 16 tip off against Texas Tech at 7 p.m. at the Super Pit.
