DENTON, Texas - I think every Mean Green fan remembers the last Big 12 team to waltz into the Super Pit back in November of 2007. Oklahoma State left Denton with an 82-73 loss as the Pit Crew rushed the floor to carry Josh White off the hardwood.
As a matter of fact, the last two Big 12 teams to enter the Super Pit have been dealt a loss by the Mean Green. NT also knocked off Baylor, 73-69, back on Dec. 9, 2003.
The Mean Green will look to keep that streak going while paying tribute to the 2010 Sun Belt Tournament champions when Texas Tech comes to the Super Pit at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.
The Red Raiders are coming off an 86-67 win over North Texas' conference mate ULM. Texas Tech shot 54.8 percent from the floor against the Warhawks.
North Texas, which took down Henderson State 92-66 on Friday afternoon, will raise its championship banners prior to the tip off. Tristan Thompson posted 25 points and Dominique Johnson added a career-high 21 points in the win over the Reddies.
North Texas will take on two Big 12 opponents this week. After battling the Red Raiders on Tuesday, NT will hit the road to face No. 7 Kansas. That game will be broadcast as a part of the ESPN Full Court package (DirecTV Channel 720), and will also be shown online at ESPN3.com.
