DENTON, Texas- Running back Lance Dunbar and Kickoff Returner Brelan Chancellor were named Offensive and Special Teams Player of the Week by the Sun Belt Conference.
Dunbar set a career high and had the sixth-best rushing performance in the nation this season with 270 yards and three touchdowns against Kansas State. He scored a fourth touchdown on a 17-yard pass reception. Dunbar averaged 12.3 yards per carry in the game (22-for-270) scoring touchdowns on runs of 52, 63 and 36 yards. It was the second-best rushing performance in school history and the third-best rushing performance in Sun Belt Conference history. Dunbar improved his rushing average to 129.4 yards per game, which ranks fifth nationally. His 1,553 yards this season ranks third in North Texas history. This is Dunbar's third player of the week honor this year.
For the second week in a row, Chancellor returned a kickoff for a touchdown, taking one back 93 yards this week against Kansas State. He is one of only seven players in the nation this season to have two or more kickoff returns for a touchdown. For the game, Chancellor had five returns for 180 yards for an average of 36.0 yards per return. This is Chancellor's first player of the week honor.
