DENTON, Texas (11/6/10) - Riley Dodge threw three touchdown passes in the second half, but the North Texas football team came up just short, falling to Troy, 41-35, on Saturday night at Fouts Field.

Troy improves to 5-3 overall and 4-1 in the Sun Belt, while North Texas falls to 2-7 and 2-4 in the conference. The Trojans extend their series record to 7-1 and have won six straight.

Down 41-35 with three minutes to play in the game, Ryan Downing intercepted a Troy pass to hand the ball back to the Mean Green. NT's final drive, however, stalled out and Troy held on to win.

Dodge completed 17 of 29 passes for 269 yards. He threw three touchdown passes in the second half to keep the Mean Green in the game. Dodge had exactly 300 yards of total offense (269 pass/31 rush), his fifth 300-yard total offense game of his career.

The Mean Green's 35 points are the most it has scored in a single game this season, and the most since a 68-49 victory over WKU last year. North Texas' 432 yards of total offense are the most for the Mean Green since a 462 yard output at Clemson on September 4^th.

Troy's Corey Robinson passed for 347 yards, including a 69-yard touchdown throw to open the game. Jerrel Jernigan rushed for 89 yards, caught four passes for 57 yards and also threw a touchdown pass. His fourth-quarter pass to Donnie Crosby proved to be the gamewinner for the Trojans.

With his 96 yards today, Dunbar moved into fourth place all-time with 2,479 rushing yards. He moved ahead of Kevin Galbreath who rushed for 2,383 yards in his career. His two touchdowns gives him 31 total touchdowns for his career, tying him with Ron Shanklin for the second most in a career at North Texas.

Robinson threw all three of his touchdown passes in the first half to put the Trojans ahead at the intermission, 24-14. Michael Taylor had a 24-yard field goal at the start of the second quarter to contribute to the first-half scoring.

The Mean Green began its comeback with a fourth and one play at 7:56 in the third. Dodge found Drew Miller on fourth down for a 31-yard touchdown play. It was Miller's first career reception and first touchdown of his career. The touchdown cut Troy's lead to six, 27-21.

After Troy responded with a score, North Texas missed a field goal but came back with a 66-yard passing play. Dodge found Dunbar for his longest pass of the season and the second longest of his career. The score cut the Trojans lead to six once again, 34-28.

Troy responded for the last time with a Jernigan touchdown pass that kept Troy ahead for good, 41-28.

Dodge found Tyler Stradford for his third touchdown pass of the game, a 24-yard pass at 5:29 in the fourth. Orr recorded the Mean Green's second interception of the game on Troy's next possession.

Troy scored on the first offensive play of the game; a 69-yard strike off a flea flicker from Robinson to Chip Reeves. With the opening score, the Trojans became the eighth opponent to post a touchdown on its opening possession.

North Texas quickly responded two minutes later with a scoring drive of its own to tie the game, 7-7. Dunbar set up his own six-yard touchdown rush with a 25-yard scramble. It was his fourth rushing touchdown in the last two games, and the 26^th of his career. Dunbar is now tied for fourth in career rushing touchdowns with Ken Bahnsen.

Craig Robertson's 14 tackles are a career high. Robertson now has 95 tackles on the season.
