Basketball Opens With Exhibition Wednesday

The Mean Green is coming off a school-record 24 wins and its second Sun Belt Conference title and NCAA Tournament berth of the last four years. NT had three players selected to the Sun Belt Preseason All-Conference teams - George Odufuwa, Josh White and Tristan Thompson - and is the unanimous selection to repeat as the league's West Division champions.
Johnny Jones is entering his 10th year at the helm of the North Texas Basketball program, and ranks second in school history with 150 career wins. Last season, he was named one of 25 national All-District Coaches by the NABC, and was also a Ben Jobe Award finalist, given annually to the country's top minority coach.
North Texas will open its season on Friday at noon at the Super Pit when it takes on Henderson State. The Mean Green will be hosting 2,000 Denton ISD students, and fans are encouraged to come share your lunch break with the Mean Green basketball team.
