Game Notes
DENTON, Texas - North Texas has won nine straight games at the Super Pit dating back to last season, and can become just the sixth team in program history to record a double-digit home win streak with a victory over Grambling State on Thursday at 7 p.m.
The Mean Green (5-1) hasn't lost a home game since Jan. 21st and can equal the longest home winning stretch of the Johnny Jones era on Thursday against Grambling (1-5).
This will be the first ever meeting between North Texas and Grambling State, although the Mean Green has plenty of ties with the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC). NT is 13-11 all-time against the SWAC, but is 5-1 in the Jones era. North Texas has won its last five meetings against SWAC squads, including last year's wins over Jackson State and Texas Southern.
In the final two minutes of games this season, NT is shooting 37-of-41 (90.2 percent) from the free throw line. That's pretty impressive considering that three of NT's wins were decided by four points or less, and another in overtime. Josh White is the main culprit, hitting 13-of-14 (92.9), while Dominique Johnson isn't far behind at 8-of-9 (88.9).
