Game Notes
DENTON, Texas - After arguably the best non-conference season the program's 93-year history, the North Texas basketball team is turning its attention to UALR and the Sun Belt opener on Thursday. Tip off from the Super Pit is slated for 7 p.m. (following the women's game at 5 p.m.) and can be heard on the Mean Green Radio Network.
North Texas completed its non-conference slate on Tuesday night with an 83-62 win over Oklahoma Panhandle State, tying this year's squad with the 1952-53 team for the best non-con record in school history at 11-2.
The number 13 was in action on Tuesday as well. In its 13th game of the year, NT won its 13th straight home game, which tied for 13th on the list of the nation's longest home court win streaks.
As always, UALR will be a formidable foe for the Mean Green, which swept the Trojans for the first time in 2009-10. UALR leads the all-time series 14-6, including a 12-4 mark since North Texas joined the Sun Belt Conference in 2000-01.
If recent history is any indication, fans are in for an edge-of-their-seat game when North Texas and UALR tip it off. Since joining the Sun Belt, eight of the 16 meetings between these two schools have either been decided in overtime or by less than five points. As a matter of fact, five of the last six games have been decided by five points or less.
A win over the Trojans in Thursday's SBC opener would give NT 12 wins in 14 games, which would be the program's fastest to that mark since 1952-53.
