North Texas Basketball - Welcome Back the Champs!

DENTON, Texas (3/10/10) - The University and greater Denton community are invited to gather at the Super Pit near Gate A to welcome back the North Texas Basketball Sun Belt Conference champions at 2:15 p.m. today. Head Coach Johnny Jones and Mean Green captured the Sun Belt Tournament Championship and an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament Tuesday night in Hot Springs, Arkansas with a 66-63 defeat of top-seeded Troy.
The impromptu Welcome Back the Champs celebration will feature comments from coach Jones, and players including tournament MVP Eric Tramiel, all-tournament selection George Odufuwa, and the man who hit the game-winning shot, Josh White. North Texas spirit groups including the Pep Band, cheerleaders and dancers are scheduled to arrive just prior to the team and will set the tone for the celebration as the team arrives.
