Height: 6-2
Class: Senior
Signed: 2009 from Itawamba Community College
2009 Key Stat: 16, Jackson only managed to record 16 tackles last season, which is just over one per game. Although he did miss a couple games due to injury he expects more tackles and more production this year. Why he will start: Jackson is a force to be reckoned with in the middle this season. He came back with a little more weight on him, but stronger and in better shape. Through the fall Jackson has been tearing through the offensive line and making plays. Why he won’t start: The only way Jackson doesn’t start at this point is if he just pulls a 180 on what he has been doing so far in camp. Even if someone else on the D-Line comes up and has a phenomenal rest of fall camp, Jackson will still be out there for the first defensive play on Sept. 4. Don’t forget: The Mean Green defense finish T-116th in the nation in 2009 with only one sack per game. The D-line is the biggest force with it comes to getting initial pressure and with Jackson back healthy and ready to go, the defense looks to get pressure early and often. Overall: Jackson weighed in at 309 this season, but it’s a meaner 309 pounds. He got stronger during the off-season and looks like he is more powerful than ever. After playing most of last season with an elbow injury, Jackson is looking to make an impact in his last season at North Texas.
