One team that instantly has become a Cinderella to watch is North Texas. Coach Brad Stracke has quietly built a top-30 program (now 29th in the country after the fall season). Last year North Texas finished 79th in the country, and were just another college in the state of Texas. This year, the Mean Green may be the team to beat in the Longhorn state. UNT finished the fall with a head-to-head record of 38-3, and that included a win at the UTA/Waterchase Invitational. North Texas will have a couple more chances to solidify its ranking at events like the Seminole Intercollegiate and Hawkeye Invitational. This spring, let's see if UNT can finish the year as the highest-ranked team from Texas. Most likely it's a long shot, but it will still be fun to watch.
Not sure when Texas went from the Lone Star state to the Longhorn State, but the reign of the burnt orange might be over in more than just football this spring.
