Swimming: Richerson Sets Season-Best As NT Falls

HOUSTON- Dawn Richerson set a North Texas season-best in the 1000-yard freestyle as North Texas fell to Rice 168-97 on Friday afternoon.
Richerson finished second in the 1000-yard freestyle event with a time of 10:22.36, besting her previous best of 10:26.90 and previous season-best for the Mean Green of 10:25.26, set on January 7th by Angie Dworshack. Richerson finished seven hundredths of a second behind Nicole Delaloye, who won the event for the Owls.
Rosa Gentile finished second in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 58.96, finishing just over three tenths of a second behind Michelle Gean of Rice.
Seabre Pope posted a time of 24.37 in the 50-yard freestyle, and finished six hundredths of a second behind Karina Wlostowska for first place. Pope then turned around to post a 53.33 in the very next event, the 100-yard freestyle, finishing only three-tenths of a second behind only Shelby Bottoms of Rice.
North Texas falls to 1-9 on the season, while the Owls improve to 4-6.
The Mean Green return to the pool tomorrow morning, January 15 at 11 a.m., as they take on the Houston Cougars in Houston.
