The senior from Angleton, Texas followed that game with a 16 point outing against the Red Wolves, in which he connected on 11-of-12 free throws. For the week, Thompson averaged 23.0 points on 66.7 percent shooting and 6-of-8 (75.0 percent) from deep.
This is Thompson's second SBC Player of the Week honor of the year as the senior also picked up the award back on December 7, 2010. For his career, Thompson has picked up three Player of the Week awards. This is the third Player of the Week award for the Mean Green this season.
The Mean Green (16-4, 5-2 SBC) knocked off ULM 79-62, and Arkansas State 83-64, holding both teams to a combined 39 percent shooting. The two wins by NT moved the Mean Green to No. 2 overall in the West Division, setting up a showdown with Denver on Saturday for the top spot in the SBC West Division. The Mean Green holds a 14-8 advantage in the all-time series, but DU is 6-4 against NT in Denver.
