Game Notes
LAFAYETTE, La. - Get ready to add one more feather in Josh White's illustrious cap. At Louisiana-Lafayette on Thursday night, North Texas' senior guard should pick up the one assist he needs to become the first player in Mean Green history to record 1,500 points and 300 assists.
Tip off from the Cajundome is slated for 7 p.m., and can be heard on the Mean Green Radio Network.
White already has 1,525 career points and sits at 299 assists, which ranks third in school history, but no player in the 93 year history of the program has ever topped those marks.
The Louisiana native looks to keep the recent trend of success against his home state. NT is 25-7 (78.1 percent) against teams from Louisiana since the 2006-07 season, including a 4-0 mark this year.
Louisiana-Lafayette holds a slim 16-15 margin in the all-time series with North Texas, but the Mean Green has taken eight of the last 10 meetings, including both games in 2008-09 and the Jan. 1 meeting in Denton, 80-63.
Tristan Thompson earned his third career Sun Belt Player of the Week award after a 30-point outing at ULM. The senior hit 10 of 12 shots on the Warhawks and leads the SBC with 18.0 points per game. Thompson ranks third in the NCAA in free throws made at 129.
At 16-4, North Texas is just one win short of having the best 20-game record in school history. Only three NT squads have ever recorded a better 20-game mark than this team.
