Game Notes
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - North Texas has won its last 13 games against Sun Belt competition, but its last loss to an SBC squad came at the Murphy Center against Middle Tennessee last season. The Mean Green will look to extend that winning streak and deliver a little payback versus the Blue Raiders on Wednesday night.
Tristan Thompson and Josh White will become the winningest players in school history with NT's next victory. The four-year seniors have both been apart of 77 total wins, which ties with a pair of their former teammates, Justin Howerton and Harold Stewart.
North Texas has won 15 straight home games, which checks in as the nation's 10th longest home-court stand. This stretch also ranks as the third longest in the 93-year history of Mean Green basketball.
At 13-2 on the season, North Texas is off to its best start through 15 games since the 1952-53 squad. That Pete Shands coached team began the season 14-1, and would go on to an 18-4 campaign and its third of four straight Gulf Coast Conference titles. NT has won its last six games by an average of 18.7 points, and has held those opponents to 40.2 percent shooting. NT has shot 52.2 percent on this six-game win streak.
Middle Tennessee has a slim edge in the series with North Texas at 7-6 following last year's 69-64 loss in Murfreesboro. NT has won the two of the last three games in the series, as well as four of the last seven meetings dating back to 2007. North Texas is 1-5 all-time in the Murphy Center with the lone win coming in 2008-09 (89-78).
