North Texas is going after its third straight win at home. The Mean Green hasn't won three straight games at home since the 2004 season. Prior to the 2011 season, North Texas won only four home games in four seasons.
The Mean Green has an all-time record of 39-21-1 in homecoming games. North Texas hasn't won a homecoming game since 2006 as they have lost four straight.
Senior Brandon Akpunku moved into the top-10 all-time at North Texas with 14.5 sacks for his career, which ranks eighth all-time. This season Akpunku has 5.0 sacks, which is leads the Sun Belt Conference and is 24th in the nation.
It doesn't end there, for his career Akpunku has 24.5 tackles for a loss, which ranks fifth all-time.
North Texas is the only team with two players in the top-5 in tackles for a loss in the Sun Belt Conference this season. Brandon Akpunku and Zachary Orr are fourth and fifth in the league respectively. North Texas running back Lance Dunbar is close to entering uncharted territory.
Dunbar has 3,642 yards rushing and 964 yards receiving for his career. With 36 more receiving yards he will become only the 25th player in NCAA history to top 3,000 yards rushing and 1,000 yards receiving.
Only five players in NCAA history have 4,000 yards rushing and 1,000 yards receiving, which is still within reach for Dunbar.
Last season Brelan Chancellor broke the Mean Green's 143 game kickoff return drought against ULM when he return a kick 91 yards for a touchdown.
North Texas hasn't returned a punt for a touchdown since 2004, and that came from Johnny Quinn when he went 85 yards for a score, against ULM.
