NEXT GAME: North Texas will continue play in the LMU Centennial Classic tomorrow in its first-ever matchup against the Ivy League’s Columbia at 5 p.m. PST.
- NT scored 92 points in the win, which are its most since a 107-87 win at Houston Baptist on Feb. 15, 2010. The 47 point win is the squad’s biggest since knocking off Cameron 106-53 (53 points) in the 2007-08 season opener.
- Friday’s win over La Sierra snaps North Texas’ four-game losing streak, and earns the Mean Green its first win away from the Super Pit this year.
- NT was 18-of-19 from the stripe, and missed only its final attempt inside the final minute of action. Still, NT’s 94.7 percent from the stripe will go down as the second-best outing in school history, and the second best in Gersten Pavilion history.
- 54 rebounds are the squad’s most since it tallied 57 against Arkansas State on Jan. 10, 2009.
- It was a homecoming to remember for NT’s Brandan Walton. The Los Angeles native scored a team and game high 14 points, and was named the tournament’s Player of the Game.
- Alzee Williams free throw streak continued. Williams hit four free throws against LSU and is now 18-of-18 from the stripe on the year. He entered the contest one of just five perfect free throw shooters in the nation with at least 10 attempts.
- Roger Franklin, who registered his first career double-double at Texas on Tuesday, reached double figure point in just 12 minutes. The Oklahoma State transfer finished the day with 10 points.
- Every active player on the Mean Green roster scored against the Golden Eagles – as a matter of fact every player scored at least four points.
- North Texas led by as 48, which is the squad’s biggest lead of the season. The largest lead entering this contest was 33 against St. Gregory’s in the season opener.
- The Mean Green returned to the state of California for the first time since the 1999-00 season finale at UC Irvine. That game wrapped up a four-year stay in the Big West Conference for NT.
- North Texas is now 28-27 all-time against teams from the state of California.
- NT is 35-1 since the 2009-10 season when leading at the half.
- North Texas had never faced La Sierra on the court prior to Friday’s win. La Sierra is an NAIA Independent located in Riverside, Calif.
