Football Non-Conference Schedule Released

DENTON, Texas - The University of North Texas is close to finalizing its 2011 football schedule, pending final Sun Belt Conference approval. The complete schedule will be released on Tuesday, March 1.
North Texas has already solidified its four non-conference games, which include regional rivals Houston and Tulsa. Houston will help open the brand new football stadium at North Texas in a game scheduled for Sept. 10. The Mean Green will play at Tulsa on Oct. 1.
North Texas will also play its first-ever Big 10 Conference opponent, when Indiana comes to Denton on Sept. 24. A game against Southeastern Conference power Alabama on Sept. 17 completes the non-conference portion of the schedule.
The conference portion of the 2011 schedule will have North Texas hosting Florida Atlantic, Louisiana-Monroe, Western Kentucky and Middle Tennessee. The Mean Green will go on the road to face Florida International, Louisiana-Lafayette, Arkansas State and Troy.
The 2011 North Texas schedule will feature five teams that played in postseason bowl games following the 2010 season.
Deposits for tickets to the 2011 football season are currently being accepted through the athletic ticket office. Ticketing options start at $100, with reserved sideline seating at $150 per ticket.
