Game Notes
DENTON, Texas - Saturday's game against Denver on Saturday evening will surely be one of the most memorable in Super Pit history, as the Mean Green will pay tribute to possibly the most accomplished senior class in school history.
Tip off against the Pioneers is slated for 7 p.m. and can be heard on the Mean Green Radio Network.
The class features the winningest players in school history in Josh White and Tristan Thompson, who also rank No. 4 and No. 8 in career scoring.
George Odufuwa is one of just four players nationwide to average a double-double in each of the last two years, and ranks 6th in NT history in career boards.
Dominique Johnson ranks 2nd in school history in career 3-point percentage and third in career free throw percentage. NT is 29-13 with Shannon Shorter in the lineup since 2009-10, and Jamie Egenti provided key depth and practice presence.
NT has dominated the Pioneers at the Super Pit. The Mean Green is 9-2 at home against Denver, including wins in each of the last seven meetings. North Texas even overcame a school-record tying 24 point deficit to top Denver, 69-62, on Jan. 15, 2009.
NT owns a 14-9 lead in the overall series with Denver. North Texas took the first meeting, 94-76, in 1968, and the return trip to Denton three years later, 72-68. NT is 4-7 all-time against DU in the Mile High City, but has won two of the last four meetings at Magness Arena.
Two of DU's three leading scorers hail from the same house in Mesquite, Texas; brothers Chase and Travis Hallam. Younger brother, Chase, leads the Pioneers with 13.0 ppg, while Travis isn't far behind at 8.9.
