Mean Green Falls To No. 10 OU

DENTON, Texas (3/2/11) - Keilani Ricketts held the Mean Green to two hits as the No. 10 Oklahoma softball team defeated North Texas, 3-0, on Wednesday night at Lovelace Stadium.
The Mean Green falls to 6-6 and 0-4 this season against ranked teams. The Sooners improve to 13-5 overall and 18-0 in the all-time series versus North Texas.
Ricketts pitched a two-hitter against the Mean Green. She struck out eight Mean Green batters in seven innings of work. On the Mean Green side, redshirt freshman Ashley Kirk pitched her first career complete game. She allowed three runs off five hits and tied a career high with eight strikeouts.
Lisa Johnson posted the first hit of the game; a double in the bottom of the first inning, but was left stranded on base.
OU scored its first two runs in the top of the second off a two-RBI double by Cierra Hughes. She was tagged out at third after trying to stretch her double into a triple.
Chana'e Jones added a third run with a homer in the fourth inning.
Brooke Foster posted the Mean Green's second hit of the game with a single in the third inning. She also drew a walk in the sixth inning.
