Opening Statement from Head Coach Johnny Jones:
"We played a very good game of basketball tonight. Troy had seniors that knocked us off earlier
in regular season. They were a very confident basketball team that got off to a great start. The
big keys for us tonight were winning the war on the boards. You have to really credit Troy to the
start that they got. With the slow start we got they got off to a great start."
Question for Head Coach Johnny Jones:
On Troy..."Troy is a very explosive basketball team. They are good of the bounce and a three
point shooting team. When we play teams like that defensively we have to be effective. You
have to take advantage of the opening they give you. We wanted our guys to take advantage of
every opportunity they had."
On FAU..."They are a good basketball team. They obviously did everything they were to do in
regular season to be the number one seed. They are a talented basketball team and have a
good bench. They are a very good coached team so they will be tough."
Question for Dominique Johnson:
On the game..."We started attacking their zone and finding the gaps and knocking down shots.
Making the jumpers and the layups and getting to the foul line.
We knew they were not going to play zone the whole game and we started finding the cracks.
Someone is going to be open in a zone and I knew I had to knock down the shots when I got the
chance.
We were aggressive today. We picked it up on defense.
On Josh White..."He is a key piece to our team. Early in the game he had two fouls, we didn't
play with him on Tuesday so that helped us realize that someone is going to have to play the
whole game. He came in and helped us increase the lead."
Question for George Odufuwa:
On the guards... "I thought our guards were very good at communicating and talking to each
other to get through the dribble weave. We just brought it today on defense."
Troy Quotes
Opening Statement from Head Coach Don Maestri:
"I am not the three point shooting coach since we were four for twenty-five. You can't be four
for twenty-five and win. I thought North Texas did a good job of being patient on offense and
allowing themselves to get some pretty good looks. Dominique Johnson got them right back in
the game."
Question for Head Coach Don Maestri:
On the game..."We missed as many wide open shots tonight as any one did this season. North
Texas shot it very well and they were very patient. They got good shots and that's the key if you
are having a good shooting night is to get yourself in a good position to take a wide open shot.
They did a good job moving the ball around against the zone. Their patience paid off. They
have three good shooters and they worked it around enough. They really deserved the win.
They are experienced so they should definitely help them."
