Eight Seniors Honored At Annual Basketball Banquet

The Mean Green toasted a combined eight seniors, and recognized award winners from a great year of North Texas basketball. The NT men made another appearance in the Sun Belt Conference title game and posted a fifth straight 20-win campaign.
The women's squad paid tribute its lone senior Denetra Kellum, who also garnered team MVP honors after a Third-Team All-Sun Belt season. She led the Mean Green with 15.6 points per game in 2010-11.
Kasondra Foreman was named the women's Newcomer of the Year, while Tamara Torru earned Defensive MVP and Jasmine Godbolt Offensive MVP honors.
The Mean Green men recognized their seven seniors - Josh White, Tristan Thompson, George Odufuwa, Dominique Johnson, Shannon Shorter, Jamie Egenti and Cam Spencer.
Four statistical leader awards were given to the men's player who led NT in free throw percentage (White), field goal percentage (Kedrick Hogans), rebounding (Odufuwa) and assists (Johnson).
Thompson, who led the Sun Belt Conference in scoring with 18.0 points per game, was named the squad's Offensive Player of the Year. Shorter earned Defensive Player of the Year honors.
The winningest players in North Texas history, White and Thompson were recognized for their 86 career victories in a Mean Green uniform.
