2011 Hall Of Fame Class Announced

DENTON, Texas- The University of North Texas has announced its 2011 Athletic Hall of Fame class, headlined by all-time leading receiver Johnny Quinn.
Quinn (football), Melinda Pina (women's soccer), Bobby Way (football), and Bill Walters (track) make up the class of 2011 and give the North Texas Athletic Hall of Fame a total of 166 members.
The school's 29th all-time class will be inducted as part of the Mean Green's annual Homecoming weekend on Oct. 22.
Quinn is the all-time leading receiver in North Texas history with 2,718 yards. He was a three-time all-conference selection from 2004-06 and a first-team all-conference pick in 2006. Quinn is second in school history with 3,835 all-purpose yards for his career.
Pina was a three-time first-team all-conference selection and a four-time all-tournament pick. She finished her career with 51 goals, which ranks second all-time and 122 career points, which still ranks third all-time. She led the team in goals in 2004 and led the Mean Green to the school's first ever Sun Belt Conference Championship and NCAA Tournament berth.
Way was a three-year letterman and helped lead North Texas to a Missouri Valley Conference title in 1958, a share of the title in 1959 and a berth into the Sun Bowl.
Way was an anchor on the offensive line playing guard and blocking for Abner Haynes. Way helped Haynes lead the Mean Green in rushing for three straight seasons from 1957-59, and North Texas captured 21 wins in three seasons.
Walters was one of the top members of the record-breaking sprint relay teams at North Texas in the early 1950's. Walters ran as the lead leg of 440-yard and 880-yard relay teams that were record breaking in 1952.
The 440-yard relay team captured the Drake Relays title with a record-breaking time of 41.7 and came back and won the 880-yard relays with another record breaking time of 125.8.
