No. 31- From Ted Wright To Lance Dunbar, NT Celebrates 31 All-Americans
Generations of North Texas fans have had the pleasure of watching the Mean Green’s 31 All-Americans over the years. No matter when you jumped on the Mean Green bandwagon you doubtlessly have a story about heading to Fouts Field to watch an NT great.
Ken Bahnsen, the program’s only two-time AP All-American, scored the first touchdowns in Fouts Field history in 1952. Mean Joe Greene became North Texas’ first Consensus All-American in redefining a position in the late 1960’s.
Byron Gross, Mike Davis and Scott Bowles all made Division I-AA All-America teams in 1990, and the Mean Green became known as “Running Back U” in the early 2000’s with Patrick Cobbs and Jamario Thomas.
