No. 30- Ramsey and Shanklin Set NCAA Record With 30 TDs
Our countdown brings us to the most lethal scoring duo in North Texas history. The leader in career touchdown passes, Steve Ramsey, and the leader in career touchdown receptions, Ron Shanklin, once held a place in NCAA lore as the most touchdowns as a combo in NCAA history with 30 by the end of their careers.
Ramsey, 1967-69, complete 69 touchdown passes during his career at North Texas. He sits first in school history with that number and second all-time in yards. Aside from sitting first in TD receptions with 31, Shanklin also has the most scores by a wide-out in a season with 13 and is fourth all-time in yards.
The duo was lethal from 1967-69, accounting for 180 points and losing only six games in those three seasons. They still hold four of the top-10 longest passing plays for North Texas, hooking up for pass and catch plays of 91, 85, 79 and 75 yards.
