DENTON, Texas - After his record-breaking performance against Houston, sophomore Brelan Chancellor was named the Sun Belt Conference Special Teams Player of the Week. Chancellor broke two school records against Houston, setting the mark for all-purpose yardage and kickoff return yards.
Chancellor had 286 yards on nine kickoff returns which is the most return yards by any player in NCAA FBS this season. That number also broke his previous school record of 198 which he set last season.
Chancellor also broke the school record for all-purpose yards with 332, breaking the record of 327 by Casey Fitzgerald in 2007. That number is also the best by any player in the NCAA this year and vaulted him into the top spot for all-purpose yardage among FBS players after two weeks.
Chancellor averaged 27.7 yards every time he touched the ball against Houston - three catches for 49 yards and nine returns for 286 yards.
Chancellor has the most all-purpose yardage in back-to-back games in school history with 594. He is on pace to shatter the school record for most all-purpose yards in a single season, which stands at 1,885
